REPAIRS review a live band.
Okay, so there are certain things that we know to be 100% unquestionably true:
1) Martin’s love of flannel and all things Andrew Falkous
2) James’s love of June of 44 and smoke machines
3) Nic’s love of pizza and all things Kim Deal
and of course…
4) The band’s love of IDLES.
So it was with HUGE excitement; many, many conversations about which IDLES T-shirt we should each wear; and SOME MORE EXCITEMENT that we and the ever-patient, understanding Fe* made our way to The Tuning Fork to see these absolute legends.
(*disclaimer: Fe is actually ALSO a huge IDLES fan.)
Did we mention that WE ARE EXCITED AF????
We meet with some of the amazing AF Gang members (if you’re not aware of this life-affirming Facebook group, you need to rectify this, stat) and then head to the venue, only to be overwhelmed within 5 minutes due to (1) the man Dev is standing right there chatting to punters like us and (2) BUYING ALL OF THE MERCH!!
OMG WE SPOKE TO DEV!!!!! ACTUALLY SPOKE!!!! *dies*
When the lights dim, it’s no gross exaggeration to say that when Joe, Jon, Bobo, Dev and Lee walk out on that stage, there is a collective rush of love, excitement and oh so much more in the room.
There’s no mistaking that bass as “Colossus” opens the evening, and the crowd is ready to GO.
It’s life-affirming. Life changing. From screaming “BRYLCREEM! CREATINE!” at the top of our lungs, to dancing non-stop, we (and pretty sure everyone else in that venue) never want the night to end.
Alas it does. As a group, we feel so lucky to have witnessed one of the best live acts EVER. There are sweaty hugs all round. There may also have been some tears.
But let’s not forget: āØāØāØāØĀ JUST ONE MONTH UNTIL THESE TWO BEAUTIES GET MARRIED. āØāØāØāØĀ
All is love people. ALL IS LOVE. ššš
